SELF DEFENSE ARTICLES
Like it or not, we live in a violent world. There are robberies, carjackings, sexual assaults and home invasions on a daily basis. There are some evil people out there that prey on those they perceive to be weak. Most people mistakenly believe that it will never happen to them, but the statistics show otherwise.
- 1.9 million people are assaulted in the United States every year.
- 80% of Americans will be the victim of a crime at some point during their lifetime.
- Every 2½ minutes a sexual assault takes place in the United States.
THE POLICE CAN'T PROTECT YOU
Thinking about being assaulted is unpleasant, so most of us try not to think about it. But, ignoring it can be much worse. Although we live in a civilized society with experienced and organized law enforcement, we can’t assume that we’ll be protected by the police. In all likelihood, the police won’t be there when you come across a potential attacker. You’ll have to think and act quickly and decisively if you want to come out of it unharmed.
We’ve been conditioned by society to defer to experts on topics that we know little about. We hire a mechanic to fix our car, we pay an investment advisor to manage our portfolio, and we call a plumber to unclog the toilet. However, your personal protection and self defense is not something that you can hire out. Unless you have the means to hire a security detail, you should take the initiative to learn how to protect yourself.
KATE MIDDLETON LEARNS SELF DEFENSE AND PERSONAL PROTECTION
Even celebrities who can afford to hire bodyguards take self defense training. Prince William's wife Kate Middleton has taken intensive military training to protect herself from violent threats. The course has been taken by other Royal Family members and teaches survival and personal protection skills. CLICK HERE to read the article.
TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY
- Prepare – Taking a self defense class is an excellent idea, but you don’t have to become a black belt to protect yourself. Learn some basic self defense moves and practice until you feel comfortable using them.
- Arm yourself – Some form of non-lethal self defense is an excellent alternative for those who are uncomfortable with fire arms. As with self defense training, if you buy a stun gun or pepper spray you should practice using it.
- Awareness – educate yourself on the dangers, how to avoid them, and what to do if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
Educate yourself and don’t be a victim. Don’t rely on any one else for your personal protection or self defense.
