My name is Lou Nemeth and I'm the owner of Apex Self Defense Products
The story behind how I started this company began about 9 years ago when my son was an infant. I started giving a lot of thought to how I could protect my family from the various threats that exist in modern society. I wanted to find something, other than a fire arm, that would offer my wife some protection when I wasn't around.
I also began looking into various methods of securing my home when we were away. As you can tell from the photo we have a dog, unfortunately, Oso isn't the guard dog type. He'd much rather play than fight off an attacker or burglar.
So I stumbled across a website that sold pepper spray. I'd heard about pepper spray but I'd never actually seen it before. Where I live in California, pepper spray is legal, but you can't really find it in any stores. So I bought some for my wife to put on her key-chain, thank God she's never had to use it. A short time later I bought some more to keep in the house and also one that clipped to the visor of her car. Soon after that I bought a stun gun, an alarm and additional locks. Friends and co-workers were constantly asking my wife where they could get some pepper spray or similar self defense products. I realized that this website where I purchased these items was making a killing off of me and the people I referred to them.
At that point I decided that I wanted to get into the self defense products industry. So nine short years later, here I am! That very first pepper spray purchase I made for my wife gave me great piece of mind that she had some way to protect herself.
